The long story short

Growing up (yes, I’m still growing up!) across 10 cities and 5 countries to date,  from Bogotá to Philly, I’m restless to discover, create, and learn from the cultures, communities, and minds around me. This eagerness to continue learning and creating has brought me to Wharton for my MBA.

Prior to Wharton, I spent 6 years at BlackRock where I led cross-functional teams to build digital experiences and products for investors around the world, from from Austin to São Paulo. These were rooted in BlackRock’s mission: helping investors globally experience increased financial wellbeing by providing transparency, clarity, and access to investments aligned to their convictions and personal goals. This experience made me passionate about building products and services that are “lived in” – that are an empowering force in users’ lives.

I thrive in environments that are fast-paced, entrepreneurial, ambitious, and nurture my ability to roll-up my sleeves, find clarity amidst ambiguity, and celebrate the wins for our users, teams, and business.

Also,

  • I love getting lost in museums and galleries,

  • I love collecting vinyl and making playlists for friends and loved ones (listen to the “Dre top 10ish” here),

  • I love animals and have a running list of future dog names. #1 contender: Pipoca (popcorn in Portuguese),

  • I love film and write short film reviews (with snack pairings!) with my best friend on our Instagram page, “Snacking on Films”,

  • I love helping others find their voice, whether it is through mentoring and editing creative writing of students in the Community-Word Project arts program, or being a founding member of BlackRock’s SOMOS Latinx employee network,

  • I love discovering unfamiliar cities and unfamiliar nooks in familiar cities

If you’re still reading, thank you, and hope to meet you!

Andrea (Dre)
